This Keith Haring Estate rare vintage 1999 first edition " Dance " collector's hardcover Pop Art book is an incredibly special and unique book to add to your library collection.
The hardcover book with laminated cover boards, and dust jacket is published by Bullfinch Press, Little Brown & Company Boston, New York, London, printed in Spain in 1999. It features a monograph collection of the Pop Art dance inspired artworks of the artist Keith Haring, with accompanied quotes from The Keith Haring Journals, book design by Pandiscio Inc., copyright The Estate of Keith Haring.
Keith Haring ( 1958 - 1990 ) was an incredibly vibrant American artist and social activist who's artwork responded to the 1980's Street culture by expressing concepts of birth, death, sexuality, and war. Haring's work was often heavily political, his imagery became a widely recognized vivid and iconic visual language of The 20th Century. Haring's close friends and inspirational contemporaries included Andy Warhol, Jean Michel Basquiat, and Madonna, all of whom he collaborated with in his lifetime. Artworks by Haring are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
Dance and music were a major influence on Keith Haring, and integral to his creative process. Collected in this book are forty of his most compelling images of dance in all its various expressions. With a simple, fluid line he created energetic dancing figures ranging from hip-hopping chickens to a ballerina in full arabesque. Matched with telling entries from his journal revealing his thoughts on life, dance, and most of all art, these works still communicate to us with great verve the joy of motion.
The rare out of print 1st edition Pop Art book measures 6 7/8" W X 5 7/8" H X 1/2" D, with 80 pages, featuring 40 color illustrations.
