Artist Biography: "Life and art. It is said that you cannot have one without the other. The art of Tod Bailey may just confirm this notion. Tod Bailey’s paintings illustrate a life that is dedicated to the exploration and expression of its pains, pleasures and what may lie between. Immersing himself in art history and essential art movements, literature and culture, Bailey creates bold and energetic works that are at once engaging and challenging. His paintings contain the artist’s struggle to portray his innate and acquired knowledge in a tangible form and enlist the viewer in that effort. His paintings, which are seemingly dense with personal and referential meaning, capture a strangeness embedded in the familiar.
