A terrific French bureau plat or writing desk with a leather top, fine parquetry inlay, bronze mounts and dovetail drawers.
This rectangular-shaped writing table top is set with a single piece of black leather, a bronze frame surround and imposing bronze corner mounts of leafy scrolls descending down the cabriole legs and capping the feet. The table has three drawers that are accessed from the front and replicated on the back with faux fronts. A series of flat bronze frames, shaped to follow the desk’s sinuous contours, delineates its drawer fronts and side and back panels. The drawers having foliate-shaped keyhole escutcheons.
