This Regency step-ladder was created in England, circa 1950. Built of mahogany, the three stairs cabinet sits on small, fluted and tapered legs ending with brass wheels; both sides are decorated with oval marquetry medallions. The piece is upholstered with a patinated brown leather, further embellished with embossed gilt tooling motifs throughout. The middle step with a bombe front is dressed with a lid that lifts up; when opening, the stair slides frontward and reveals an interior storage compartment. The ladder is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich walnut patina. This small staircase would make a wonderful and practical addition to any study, bibliotheque or library!
