A massive towering Victorian era Eastlake secretary writing desk and bookcase, circa 1870s. Made from Walnut with a slant front desk over three drawers. Features walnut bur front with applied acanthus carved molding and hand turned pulls. Drop front opens to a writing surface, three interior drawers and pigeon holes. The large bookcase or display cabinet houses its original glass and opens to four adjustable shelves. The shelf and backing are wrapped in a pink geometric wallpaper that are matched along the writing surface. Crown is carved in classic Eastlake form with broken pediment with central medallion,floral accents, round medallions and raised and burled panels. At 106.5" this secretary is truly a rare find that soars above the rest. A great piece for any living room, office, study or library.
