Circa Late 19th Century. For Many Years Boston Massachusetts has Been Famous for its Baked Beans and has been Affectionately Referred to as "Beantown". These Types of Cooking Pots were made for Preparing Baked Beans in the Traditional Way. The Front is Embossed WESTON'S BAKERY with Blue Glazed Highlights. Back in the day stoneware utility items such as these were on loan to customers from their Local Markets - Grocery Stores - Liquor Stores and in This Case a Bakery. They were meant to be reused as they could be refilled. I purchased this piece in the Massachusetts North Shore - Coastal Region. As you can see in my listing Photographs this Pot Has Been Used Extensively for a Lifetime. Note! that these pots were Baked in Very Hot Ovens for Many Hours at a Time and Imperfections - Surface - Glaze Cracks Would Have Occurred of as a Result. This Piece is in Very Good - Strong - Sound Condition. It has No Chips - No Internal Cracks - No Repairs. Displays Very Nicely - Has a Wonderful Authentic Old Look. It would be Great in Country Primitive Style Kitchen to Store and Display Wooden Spoons - Utensils Etc.
