They are distinguishable by the fact that the pattern is visible only from one side- with the reverse often having threads of yarn 2 to 4 cm long left hanging on the back. The kilims are used as floor coverings both inside and outside homes.
This particular kilim is made in Afghanistan with more modern colors and design, and will look great in any room, whether it's fitted with antiques or more modern pieces!
