Nice set of 6 mahogany Chippendale style dining chairs by the well known cabinet making firm of Potthast Brothers of … Read more Nice set of 6 mahogany Chippendale style dining chairs by the well known cabinet making firm of Potthast Brothers of Baltimore, Maryland. The brothers started in business in the late 1890's as both antique dealers and restorers before becoming one of the leading cabinetmaking firms of the Colonial Revival Movement of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These chairs are solid mahogany with cabriole legs and ball and claw feet. The slip seats are easily recovered and obviously need to be. Chairs have been cleaned and repolished recently. Chairs are in very good condition other than needing to be reupholstered. The last 2 photos are of the Potthast Brothers in their office. One of the brothers leans on what appears to be a very similar if not identical Chippendale style chair! Chairs stand 38 1/2" tall and are 22" wide at the knees and 20" deep. The seat height is 18 1/2". Chairs were made in the early 20th century. Most chairs still retain the Potthast label but not all labels in good condition. See less
