This is just a great original piece. I have had quite a few frederick h daniels paintings over the years and without a doubt this is the best one. For those not familiar with the artist I have included his biography below. This is a stunning view of the charles river in autumn. Incredible colors in the landscape and reflecting off the river. Oil on artists board measuring 24 x 30 inches. Signed and dated lower right corner. Painting is in really excellent condition. Perhaps a very slight layer of surface grime and just a couple of faint small scuffs. Really just a stunning original work. On the back of the painting it is titled in pencil in the artist's hand as well as an original label for caring for the picture. Original frame is complimentary and ready to hang. Frame measures 28 1/2 x 34 1/4 inches.
For those not familiar with the artist his biography reads: "fred hamilton daniels was born in massachusetts in 1872, he was a landscape and marine painter of cape cod and an active art educator. He enrolled in the massachusetts normal art school in 1889 and left worcester in 1897 at age 17 to become art supervisor in buffalo , new york . He later went to work for prang educational company. He was fired from that job in 1901 for what was considered "lack of loyalty to the company" he went on to found the "applied arts guild" a group of art teachers with a new vision of public educational art lessons. They published several lessons books under the name of the applied arts book. These were published up to 1920's. He wrote a book titled the teaching of ornament and by 1920 was living with his wife and daughter in newton , massachusetts where he was supervisor of drawing in the public schools " less
