A French modernist art deco chandelier in nickel plated solid brass and bronze by the famous Paris based maison Petitot. Around 1935. It holds four oversized shades in pressed frosted glass. This model shade is never signed was most likely produced by the glass factory of Degué and can be found on modernist chandeliers of the mid-thirties by Francis Hubens Hettier&Vincent and H.Petitot. Several parts of the high-quality bronze mounting have AP and petitot marks on the inside. The usual initials of the Petitot company: AP for Alexandre Petitot who started the company in 1878 and was the father of Hubert. This model chandelier is represented in one of the old H.Petitot catalogs.
It is 64cm (25-1/4") high and 54 cm (21-1/4") wide. The shades have a diameter of 18 cm (7-1/4"). The chandelier is in excellent condition. I have re-nickeled the fixture and the lamp is rewired. It holds four American candelabra base sockets.
