Bohnert (1888-1967) was an American artist known for his portrait painting, teaching, and illustration. He was commissioned by several major magazines to illustrate and designed countless ads
This painting was for an ad commissioned by Gulflex
It dates to the time of World War II and features a soldier with binoculars.
This painting was the original draft of an ad that was then printed and shared across America
The painting came from the estate of Bohnert’s late grandson, in Beverly Hills, California
It’s in overall good condition. 1 scratch on the right side through the “o” in the word, “lubrication”
There is also an orange circle where the artist marked where an overlapping small print information section was supposed to go.
This is a great piece of history as well as petroliana
