This museum quality print carries number 293 in the Jombert catalog (1774) and is described as follows: "The Prophet Elie is carried away in a charriot of fire. The landscape represents the falls of the river Niagara in the land of the Iroquois in North America where the water falls from a prodigious hight. It was engraved in 1706 and is one of the most interesting and original work of the artist. It is very sought after. It is also one of the first representation of the falls published in France.
Le Clerc, engraver from Lorraine was born in Metz in 1637 and died in Paris in 1714. In 1660 he was an engineer in the service of Marechal de la Ferte.
