This heavy antique piece is very well executed and carefully hand carved - modelled in the style of the Tang dynasty. The sculpture portrays a T'ang dynasty warrior or soldier mounting his horse and preparing for battle with his sword at his side. Made from a hard (4 on the mohs scale) and dense stone with an attractive mottled brown/black coloration. Very tactile and smooth to the touch.
No markings.
Very good condition with only minor expected surface wear.
19th Century.
An imposing statue, and a statement piece suitable for many a style of home.
