A nice pair of 1933 French art deco wall sconces in nickel plated solid brass or bronze by C.Jamain holding two beautiful slip shades in frosted moulded-pressed glass by Degué. The Paris (41 rue de Paradis) based company lead by David Guéron. Guéron employed the ceramist and designer Edouard Cazaux as his artistic director and head designer. In 1936 production stopped and the company finally closed down in 1939. This model is represented in the old Degue catalog under #581. Both shades are signed Degué. Célestin Jamain was a producer and seller of art deco lighting during the interbellum in Paris (17-19 rue Gambey). The sconces are represented in the 1933 Jamain catalog. The catalogs are no part of this sale.
The sconces are 36,5 cm high (14,37") 20 cm wide and 14,8 cm deep. They are in excellent condition. I have re-nickeled and patinated the fixtures. The lamps come rewired with American candelabra base sockets.
