The success of the lacquered models has slowly hit the world market by adding another medal to the history of italian design.
it is in this fervor (we have reached 1970) that the sofa is born which is an example of absolute rationalism and is the first modern series furniture on which the lucid lacquer has been applied.
the cream -colored velvet fabric is perfect and as new and original simon.
like all the furniture designed by kazuhide takahama, this sofa also stands out by penalty, formal cleaning and a language of poetic essentiality in which signs belonging to the oriental culture overlap, in which kazuhide takahama was formed, and to the western one in which you are absorbed.
influenced by the japanese tradition, kazuhide takahama with the decisive help of dino gavina has lacquered the surfaces of his chair. It is the birth of lacquered furniture and its production technique, within the modern industrial process.
the sofa is a two-searer.
kazuhide takahama: he completed architecture studies in tokyo and starts working in kazuo fuoka's studio. He came to italy in 1957 on the occasion of the milan triennale and here he met dino gavina with whom he will collaborate for a long time. In contact with the most active italian designers, he resumes in this alive climate of cultural exchanges, to develop his stylistic lexicon that will become increasingly defined.
simon by cassina
cassina acquires the simon brand of dino gavina, two historical brands that carry on the history of italian design. The fundamental concept of the company, born in 1968, is to continue to think and produce furnishing elements that have created the roots of the culture of design, furnishings that are today of the timeless classics that have established a dialogue between artistic research and production - collection ultramobile- and have exceeded the limits of rationalism by raising the project to the great traditional values- ultratational collection. The collections include works by artists such as carlo scarpa, marcel breuer, kazuhide takahama, tobia scarpa, man ray and meret oppenheim. Thus was born a perfect combination that allows historical and poetry furnishing elements, to relive and still give passion to the history of design.
