A solid walnut off-white lacquered Mid-Century Modern small credenza or oversized night stand made by the Davis Cabinet Co. of Nashville, Tennessee. The light ivory or cameo white commode features two (2) cabinet doors with hex pattern revealing the gorgeous walnut wood grain and sleek patinated brass and black faux shagreen handles. What truly great craftsmanship in this quality case piece! The lacquer has been refreshed, making the cabinet as close to mint as an item from the early sixties could be. Its great size makes this piece so versatile it can be used virtually anywhere: in a living room as a dry bar; in a bedroom as a nightstand or as a small media console; in a dining area as a server or small buffet / sideboard; in a foyer, etc. Originally retailed by the New York City luxury department store Bonwit Teller.
We also have two matching dressers available for sale; please note the three pieces shown are being sold individually; if you would like to purchase the dressers, please visit our storefront or contact Select Modern. Neutral and inviting, this piece works well with many styles, from eclectic relaxed bohemian or coastal chic to more elegant or traditional interiors.
in 1926, Lipscomb Davis first formed his free floating theory of solid wood manufacture. Further, he envisioned a ready waiting market for the kind of quality and style he intended as the hallmark of his furniture. Furniture made of the finest select hard woods. In July, 1929, Mr. Davis, with the backing of several Nashville businessmen, bought out Standard Furniture Company. And began producing the kind of furniture he dreamed of. "Quality.
