Wood: Walnut Burl Veneer, Gloss Finish With Exquisite Inlaid Marquetry of multiple wood species.
Ormolu Mounted with Brass Hardware on the lower front legs, the entire edge of lower corners, and in the upper four spaces between the glass doors
This piece is in the French style of Louis XV with its cabriole legs. It also has fine-cast bronze and gilt ormolu decorated Rococo-style French embellishments. It is more exquisite than the pictures can convey. The piece's finish is beautiful, and there are very few small blemishes for its age and use. There are only two which needed small repairs and they can be seen in the last two pictures. Everyone who sees this work of art stops in their tracks to admire its beauty and dream of owning such a treasure.
This TRULY MAGNIFICENT large French burl walnut bombe-shaped breakfront has many exquisite features. The cabinet is beautifully decorated with marquetry inlay, including floral images and scrolling detail. It boasts an elegant molded edge and three drawers which are damask fabric lined with original ornate brass handles (they have not yet been polished). The three burl walnut bombe-shaped opening doors have the original hinges. The burl walnut breakfront stands on elegantly shaped cabriole legs. This piece is stunning in color and condition, the color and the grain of the walnut being outstanding. This example has been made using the best quality materials and to the highest standards of the period, with canted corners applied with gilt bronze mounts on cabriole legs with gilt bronze sabots. This Fine Louis XV Rococo Breakfront has beautiful proportions and fine and lively marquetry. Key and locks in working order. One key unlocks all doors and is included. All shelves are stationary and made of wood. The lower cabinet that opens forward has a mirror backing in great condition.
This is an extremely rare, versatile, beautiful, and well-made piece of work of art that is also a very functional piece of furniture. It had been in the same family and passed down for generations until recently purchased.
It is in two pieces, top and bottom, for ease of placement and moving.

The legs had some peeling and chipping of the veneer under the ormolu mounts. The mounts were removed carefully, the brittle veneer was removed, and the surface was repaired and stained. The center bottom fold-down cabinet has some cracks in the veneer on the inside, which have been reattached. The cracks are still visible, and some slight lifting. This will need to continue to be monitored as the piece ages further. One of the small restorations on the side edge (pictured) is a slightly different color but is a piece of veneer from the cabinet. Only native veneer from the piece was used in the restoration. Replacements: minor repairs, replacements to the veneers, reattachment of lifting veneers, minor fading. Good overall condition. Wear consistent with age and use. less
