Artist Biography: James Bettison lived from 1958 to 1997. He was an early participant in the DiverseWorks artist-in-residence program in the early 1980's. Bettison was one of the original seven African-American artists who began Project Row Houses, a project that took a block of shotgun houses in the impoverished Third Ward community of Houston and turned them into a site for positive and creative change. less
