Caryatis is a sculpted female figure serving as an architectural support taking the place of a column or a pillar supporting an entablature on her head. The Greek term karyatides literally means “maidens of Karyai”, an ancient town near Sparta. The best-known are those of the six figures of the Κaryatid Porch of the Erechtheion on the Acropolis at Athens.

Designed originally as a pitcher, the piece now makes a stunning Greek inspired statue. It stands 12 1/2" tall and is 3" in diameter at its widest. less
