A Japanese woodblock print, known as ukiyo-e ("pictures of the floating world") typically depicts the rich culture and way of life in Japan from hundreds of years ago. As a result of this unique art form, several wood print societies have been formed throughout the years in Japan. Koga Misao was a member of one of the societies from 1960-1980.
Koga Misao is known from a very small number of prints, made after WWII, and while further information on this very talented artist has been nearly impossible to obtain, we are proud to have a few of his black on black woodblock prints in our inventory. We welcome and appreciate any additional information from our customers. This print comes framed and signed in pencil by the artist.
