Original hand-colored lithograph: Titled Parotia Sexpennis, this lithograph is a scene of exotic birds by artist, John Gould’s “The Birds of New Guinea” created between 1875 and 1881. ≈ (1804-1881), known as The Bird Man, lived in England but traveled to remote areas of the world to obtain bird specimens for various editions of land-painted bird lithographs. *Foxing is an age-related process of deterioration that causes spots and browning on old paper documents such as books, postage stamps, and certificates.
