A large French 1930 art deco chandelier in nickel plated bronze by the famous Paris based company of Hubert Petitot holding a bowl and four side-shades. These shades were produced by the Muller freres glass factories. All five shades are signed. The bronze maker Alexandre Petitot started his company in 1878. His son Hubert took over in 1917. The Paris based company of Petitot was a wholesale selling its lamps to lighting shops all over France and Europe. Together with Hettier & Vincent Petitot became one of the largest producers of French art deco lighting in the late 20s and early 30s. Petitot produced precious fixtures in high quality bronze with shades from the best French glass manufacturers. The mounting is marked with the usual Petitot foundry initials AP for Alexandre Petitot. The chandelier is represented in the 1931 Petitot product catalog, which is no part of this sale.
The chandelier has a drop of 90 cm (35-1/2") and a diameter of about 81 cm (some 32 inches). The central Muller bowl has a diameter of 36 cm. The beautiful and large canopy has a diameter of 30 cm (11,8 inches). The chandelier is in excellent condition. I re-nickeled and patinated the fixture. It is newly wired and holds an American standard socket and four American candelabra base ones.
