A rare French 1930 art deco chandelier in nickel plated solid brass or bronze by the famous Paris based company of Charles Ranc (64 rue de la Folie-Mericourt). The luxurious high quality mount carries six cups in clear frosted moulded-pressed glass by Muller frères. The famous glass factory from Luneville France. This model shade is referred to as ‘aux gouttes d’eau’ (the water drops) in the old Muller catalogs. All six are signed Muller frères Luneville. The mounting is marked RC on the inside of some its components. Charles Ranc was a designer and producer of bronze lighting fixtures. He started his company in 1909 he became very successful 1925 onwards. In 1928 his two brothers Auguste and Eugène and his sister Madeleine joined the company and it was renamed Ranc frères. In 1930 they moved from the Folie-Mericourt street to 97 rue Oberkampf. The company closed its doors just before the war.
The chandelier has a height of 64,5 cm (25,4 inches) and is 65,5 cm wide (25,8"). The shades have a diameter of 20 cm. It is in excellent condition. The mounting is re-nickeled and patinated. I rewired it with six American candelabra base sockets.
