A beautiful French 1925-1930 art deco chandelier by Hubert Petitot in nickel plated solid brass or bronze. It holds four large panels and a central bowl by la maison Muller frères, the famous glass factory from Luneville France. All five shades are signed Muller fres Luneville. The famous Paris based company of Hubert Petitot was started by his father Alexandre Petitot in 1878. Hubert took over around 1917 and during the interbellum it grew into one of the largest firms producing bronze, high quality art deco lighting in France.

The chandelier is represented in the 1931 Petitot catalog in a slightly different version. Before 1931 Petitot issued the more luxurious version like the one on offer here with another, complex made, canopy. The chandelier has a height of 85,5 cm (33,66") and a diameter of 53 cm (20,87 inches). The fixture has its original 90 y/o nickel plating. It is in fairly good condition given its age, with a nice patina: it shows wear allowing the bronze metal to shine through. I have cleaned it and placed an agent against oxidation. The lamp is newly wired. It holds 5 American standard sockets.
