A wonderful pair of French 1927-1930 art deco wall sconces made by the Paris based company of Léon Hugue, Nickel plated solid brass or bronze mounts hold signed shades. Done in clear frosted molded-pressed glass. They are signed Hugue and were made by Degué.
Léon Hugue was a producer of art deco lighting in Paris during the interbellum (at 10 rue Pierre-Levée). A gilt bronze version of this sconce is represented in the 1927 Hugue product catalog. That one holds a cheap shade in thin glass. In the years that followed Hugue made nickeled versions with the Hugue signed shade in pressed glass. The wall lights have a height of 32 cm (12,6"). They project 13 cm (5,12") from the wall. The shades have a diameter of 8,2 cm (3,23"). They are in excellent condition. I have replated and patinated the mounts. And the fixtures are rewired with American candelabra base sockets.
