Laszlo Neogrady was a Hungarian painter best known for his naturalistic depictions of rustic landscape scenes, often featuring peasants and snow-covered forests. Neogrady notably made extensive use of impasto paint and atmospheric colours, achieving a sense of pictorial depth and light in his work. Born in 1896 in Budapest, Hungary as the son of painter Antal Neogrady, he went on to study at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts under the celebrated portrait artist Ede Ballo. Today, Neogrady’s works are found in the collections of the Iowa State University Museum in Ames and the National Museum of Hungary in Budapest, among others. He died on August 27, 1962 in Budapest, Hungary.
