Behind a glazed door with a richly decorated frame made of gold -plated bronze the large round, enameled dial with dial cartridges that wear roman and arabic digits. Central all -round signature: "causard - hgr (horlogier) - du roi - suivt (suivant) - la cour". Clockwork capable of walking with a half and the sound of the bell. As an upper degree, arable crowning with a fully plastic representation of an eagle made of gilded bronze. The cartel clock sits on a delicate wall console with a rectangular plate and pointed corpus. Both the clock housing and wall console with excellent paint painting, so -called "vernis martin" with polychromen strturoses on a red background. Rich bronze applications in louis xv style. The signature refers to edmé-jean causard (1718-1780), which is one of the most famous watchmakers of the 18th century. Causard became self -employed around 1750 and received the title "marchand horloger privileigié du roi" in 1753. His business was at the hotel d’anglterre on rue saint honoré in paris. His illustrious clientele included maréchal de duras, marquis de langeac and marquis de massilac as well as the famous art collector augustin blondel de gagny. The paint technique used here, the so -called "vernis martin" was a imitation of the chinese varnishes, which at that time became incredibly popular. The martin brothers were the most famous painters of their time who used these technique: they led a large studio between 1730 and 1770 and were able to adorn themselves with the title "vacers du roi" ("painter of the king"). less
