Bookend has both gold and silver gilt scallop seashells, two gold gilt acanthus leaves at base, red burgundy hue on side and back, black at base, and a flexible brass metal plate at back. Piece is Italian as marked on underside (images #11 and 12), in the manner of French designer Andre Groult. A beautiful bookend or decorative object as demonstrated. Colors included red burgundy, black, gold and silver gilt.
