A wonderful pair of 1925-30 French art deco lamps. Daum made colored shades on wrought iron bases of outstanding quality produced for the company L'électro matériel. A large Parisian enterprise with its workshops and showrooms at 7 rue Darboy street. Among other things it sold electric heaters appliances and lighting fixtures. Electro Materiel sold a model art deco lamp base in silvered spelter with their Darboy signature on it. (In fact, that base was designed by Charles Ranc who sold a gilded bronze version himself which was unsigned and with the C.Ranc foundry marks on it.) For their luxurious lamps Electro Materiel ordered lampshades in colored double layered hand-blown glass with pigment inclusions at the Daum factories in Nancy. The shades Daum made for Electro Materiel are signed Darboy in colored ink. In the same manner Daum did the Lorrain signature in ink.
The lamps on offer are 32,1 cm high (12,6 inches). They are in excellent condition. The bases have a nice deep-brown patina. The pair is rewired with stylish cloth covered twisted cord and online switches. For the States Canada and Japan I placed American candelabra base sockets and US 2-prong plugs. For other countries I will rewire the lamps with European E14 sockets.
