A beautiful and rare French art deco lamp by the famous Paris based maison Hettier et Vincent … more HETTIER & VINCENT
A beautiful and rare French art deco lamp by the famous Paris based maison Hettier et Vincent (the company of Louis Hettier and Calixte Vincent) made around 1930. A nickel plated base in solid brass or bronze holds a shade in clear frosted molded-pressed glass. The signed shade was made for H&V by the glass factory Verreries des Hanots. And was used for lamps pendant lights and chandeliers. The base is very rare. I saw only a handful of them over the past 25 years. But 1995 onwards copies of it were produced in high quantities. These copies are simple to recognize: copies are a little smaller and the decoration is a lot less detailed. Looks clumsy. And they are not offered with one of the two Hettier et Vincent models three-armed supports. The lamp on offer is all original and in very good condition. It still has its 90 years old nickel plating. It shows it's old but is still in excellent condition given its age. The lamp is represented on page #125 of the first supplement of the Hettier et Vincent product catalog of 1928 (the first supplement was issued in 1929).
The height of the lamp is 43,1 cm (17 inches) and the shade has a diameter of 27 cm (10-5/8"). The lamp is rewired the lamp with cloth covered twisted cord. I placed an American candelabra base socket and a US 2-prong plug.
