An intriguing and sentimental lithograph titled To Days of Childhood That are Still Unexplained by Ben Shahn. From the Rainier Maria Rilke portfolio, For the Sake of a Single Verse, New York, 1968, First edition lithograph printed in colors at Atelier Mourlot, on Richard de Bas hand-made paper, from the rare, smaller, original hand signed edition of 200 that were signed in red brush. The subject depicts a grouping of six serene figures that are silhouetted in purple and blue. Dimensions: 28.25"w x 1.5"d x 32"h (framed). In very good vintage condition.
Ben Shahn (1898-1969) was a Lithuanian-born American artist and social activist. He is best known for his paintings, murals, and prints which depict the everyday life of working people. His work often contains political and social commentary. Shahn's work can be found in major museums around the world.
