Created in Japan during the 19th century, this Imari porcelain plate features a delicate blue and white décor depicting an artistic, abundant landscape arrangement: mountains, trees and buildings populate the entire plate and conceal the discreet presence of single man seen from the back, crossing a wooden bridge with the help of a large staff. Light blue color alternates with darker touches, thus creating a lively sense of depth. Imari is a style of porcelain named after the Japanese port from which it was shipped from, beginning in the late 17th century. The plate has a mark on its back.
