This iconic “Diplomat” table or desk lamp, also often referred to as Model Z, is the successor to the Decora Z model, designed in the 1950s by the famous architect and designer Louis Kalff, and produced by Philips in the late 60s, 70s (till the 80s). Since the model was released after the retirement of Louis Kalff, but is completely identical to the Decora model except for another shape of lampshade, it is generally assumed that this model was designed with the approval of Louis Kalff by the design team of Philips. Philips label present on the brass plate on the lampshade.
The lamp is in a very good vintage condition and shows only very minor signs of usage according to its age (see photos).
The lamp has been tested and works fully. The lamp is astonishing with a silver coloured top mirror led bulb (not included).
Estimated period: Design 1950s, production 1960s-70s.
