Fenton Glass introduced the lovely pattern, Spanish Lace in 1954. Initially only offered in a rose pastel milk glass, it added the color turquoise in 1955. Turquoise was retired in 1956 and in 1958, rose petal was too. White milk glass was introduced in 1958 and was retired in 1964. Spanish Lace was later revived, in 1968, when Fenton introduced Silver Crest Spanish Lace. This eye-catching beauty is substantial in size, 13” diameter from scalloped tip-to-tip and stands 5” high. Nicely weighted too, 3 lbs. 13 oz. Crafted from moulded pressed milk glass which is a bright milky white. The whimsical motif, arranged in a circular pattern toward the center, consist of a series of arabesque, semi-circle and diamond point symbols mixed with petite four-point clovers reminiscent of point lace patterns of Spanish mantillas. In excellent condition with minimal wear. There is no makers mark, as Fenton did not begin marking its glass until 1974. Random indiscernible straw marks, not unusual in glass, original to the manufacturer as a result of manufacturing process which does not affect it beauty or utility. Sublimely beautiful head turner will complement any tablescape and serve-up your baked delights in style at your next gathering!
