One might say “a bit of Secessionist, a touch of Nouveau” regarding the styling of this vibrantly decorated cake platter. Large enough to hold a pie, at 14 ¼ inches across. Or, hors d’oeuvres? How about a display of six of your finest cheeses après dinner – with room for fruit!
As you can see from the photos there’s one chip on the underside of the platter, and there’s a much smaller one on the front side (very hard to see in the photo, perhaps around 3 o’clock). And with only four or so shallow and short knife marks, our conclusion is that this platter has been treasured and cared for lo these many (around 100?) years!
Being of German origin, consummate quality of design and craftsmanship.
Measurements: 14 ¼ across, standing about 7/8 of an inch high. No discoloration of the ceramic, just a few reflections in the photos.
