You are about to make your friends GREEN with envy when they see your wonderful mint green wingback chair by renowned designer H.W. Klein!! That’s right!!! This is a lovely Scandinavian Modern lounge chair manufactured by Bramin Mobler of Denmark designed by iconic designer Henry Walter a.k.a. H. W. Klein. It is comprised of a fabulous reclining teak base, a fantastic, rounded wingback, and it is wearing a very faded soft green fabric with button detail and lots of wonderful patina… which some may appreciate and want to use as it is however, most will want to reupholster. And just imagine the gorgeous fabric possibilities!!! The seat cushion is loose, and the reclining feature is simply a pressured back recline on the teak frame. It is more of a rocking motion as there is nothing to hold the lean in place, but it’s a fun component! And talk about extreme comfort!! It’s just the relaxing spot you need after a long day at work! It is going to be fabulous in absolutely any room in your home that needs a splash of Scandinavian Modern excellence.
Henry Walter a.k.a. H.W. Klein was a Norwegian born designer and while information on him is a bit limited, he served in the Norwegian Royal Marines and turned his sites to cabinetmaking in 1949. He moved to Denmark and studied interior design under direction of prominent Danish architect and designer Finn Juhl. Once he finished school he returned to Norway and began his own interior and furniture business. His Danish modern style characteristic is in his tables, sideboards, and chairs. He moved to Denmark in 1960 to work for Bramin Mobler where he stayed until the company closed in 1980.
Originally known as N.A. Jorgensen, Danish furniture manufacturer Bramin Mobler was founded in Bramming, a region on the west coast of the Jutland peninsula. Throughout the 50’s, 60’s, & 70’s they produced seating, tables, and case goods in a style representative of the Danish mid-century modern era. According to catalogs and other advertisements, N.A. Jorgensen launched Bramin in 1957 into the early 60’s but it wasn’t until the mid-60’s that Bramin’s eye-catching logo was created with a rounded lower case a which was intended to stand out from the other letters. In it’s prime, Bramin worked with many well-known designers, such as Johannes Andersen, Hans Olsen, Kurt Ostervig, & Frank Reenskaug. But one of the most successful relationships for Bramin was that of H.W. Klein. Bramming based businesses were hit hard in the early 80’s forcing most of them, including Bramin Mobler to close.
Iconic Danish designer, reputable manufacturer, superb quality & comfort, and quintessential Scandinavian Modern style. This wingback lounge chair by H.W. Klein for Bramin Mobler has it all! You NEED to make it yours!!
