This rare & beautiful Couroc of Monterey Tray is of Independence Hall in Philadelphia. The statute of George Washington by Joseph A. Bailey. From the sticker on the back: "In this building the UNITED STATES was created on July 4, 1776, when the Continental Congress voted for the Declaration of Independence. Here the famous old Liberty Bell first proclaimed the Nation's freedom."
The Couroc Company was founded by Guthrie Courvoisier and his wife Moira Wallace, who was an artist, in 1948. They designed and made thousands of trays, bowls & accessories which were hand inlaid by master craftsmen using shells, coins, woods & metals. Each piece is one of a kind. Sadly, Couroc stopped production of these beautiful trays in 1998.
I am a big fan (collector?) of these beautiful trays and try to bring unique trays to you that are significant, unique, interesting & more difficult to find.
This tray measures 12.5" tall x 17.75" wide x about 1" deep.
