This small piece of history likely was made during the fall or winter of 1942. U. S. troops spent six months in combat on and around the islands of the Guadalcanal. Trench art was made by both soldiers and civilians, originating from countries engaged in combat. This hand carved wood piece features General Douglas MacArthur, meticulous hand carved detailing, and silver paint surrounding the general. This piece has a width of 5.5", a depth of 2.75" and stands at a height of 10".
