Description: Up for sale is an unusual pair of Chinese Ming-style low square tables, or Chandeng (禅凳 stools for Buddhist meditation), … more Up for sale is an unusual pair of Chinese Ming-style low square tables, or Chandeng (禅凳 stools for Buddhist meditation), with a narrow waist, four round legs and all rounded edges, the tables structured in a sturdy and well-balanced form, after the simple-and-elegant style of the furniture created during the Ming and early Qing Dynasties (16th-17th century), the low stretchers and the humpback-style aprons constructed in a unique leg-wrapping design also reflecting a typical Ming craftsmanship, the floating tabletop panel using deep brown rosewood creating an attractive contrast to other light-colored softwoods, mid 20th century, probably made in Hong Kong, both tables in overall good condition with some surface wear, scuffs, discolorations, minor joint gaps and other imperfections commensurate with age and use
