Beautiful wood turned bowl made from Natural Edge Cherry wood. This gorgeous wooden piece was handmade by Harstine Island Design in Washington state. The bowl is signed and numbered by the artist.
Note from the Artist:
This cherry wood bowl came from a log with characteristically strong color contrast between the sapwood and heartwood. I oriented this bowl such that the natural line of the outside of the tree forms the rim, with the bark left intact. All of my bowls are intended to be functional and used, but the size, shape and rim character of this bowl tend to make it more of a display piece, ideal for fresh fruit or other decorative items. While the shape of the piece at the rim has the illusion of being oval, it is indeed round. The finish is a blend of urethane and Tung Oil. It is a penetrating finish that goes into the wood and not on it, leaving the appearance of a natural hand rubbed finish that feels soft and smooth, and is pleasing to the touch. The finish requires minimal maintenance beyond gentle cleaning. less
