Smaller Approx. 1 Gallon … more This really is a Great Looking Antique American Country Primitive Stoneware Jug. Circa Late 19th Century. Smaller Approx. 1 Gallon Size. The Front of This Unusual Squat Form Hand Decorated with a Beautiful Cobalt Blue Stylized Floral Design. It was Designed to have a Low Center of Gravity to Prevent Tipping like a Ships Decanter. It has No Maker or or Other Markings but it was Most Likely Made in the Up State New York Region or Possibly Pennsylvania. These type of Jugs were Commonly Used to Store a Variety of Liquids - Spirits - Liquor - Ciders - Vinegar - Spring Water Etc. It is in Excellent Original Condition with No Cracks - No Repairs - Displays Beautifully. It has a Very Old Chip at the Base Area and a Kiln Bubble Flaw that would have Occurred in Making - Firing Process. These Can Best be seen in the Last Photograph in my Listing. It also has a Few Surface Kiln Glaze Imperfection at the Base Area but These are Common - Normal as they would have Occurred in the Making - Kiln Firing Process as well. Assorted Stoneware Pieces like These were Fired in Batches in Large Size Kilns. Please Also Note! that these Small Well Decorated 1 Gallon Size Jugs are Getting Very Hard To Find These Days.
