A very fine Chinese export polychrome decorated heavy bodied bowl in the charming gilt highlighted butterfly pattern. The rim has a wide and very brightly gilded band both inside and out, with Famille Rose decoration below composed of sprawling detailed rose bouquets surrounded by fluttering butterflies and other insects. The body displays distinctive and desirable orange peel texture. Second half of the 19th century. Stand is not included.
