Description: Lubomir Tomaszewski, an innovative artist born in Poland in 1923, had a long career both in his native country and … more Lubomir Tomaszewski, an innovative artist born in Poland in 1923, had a long career both in his native country and in his adopted home in the United States, where he died in 2018 at the age of 95. He made this and other sculptures from fieldstones he gathered in Connecticut. He observed that this fieldstone would make a handsome representation of an American bison if a head and feet were added.

His works decorate the private studies and houses of Laurance Rockefeller’s family and of the former President of the United States, Jimmy Carter. They also are displayed in the collections of the National Museum in Warsaw; the National Museum in Kraków; the Warsaw Rising Museum (Warsaw); the National Museum in Wrocław; Halle Museum (Germany); the Ziselman family (Caracas, Venezuela); T. Komine of Kyowa Bank (Tokyo, Japan), and others.
