Direct from France, a tall and highly carved French pedestal/plant stand, with fabulous Brittany details!
The main feature here is the sold oak baluster with a full length, dimensionally carved Breton gentleman in period attire. Note the shape of the body, the face and details to the clothing.
This stand was created true to the Celtic roots of the Brittany region of France, with the hallmark feature of the Breton style, the symbolic use of men and women in traditional Celtic dress.
Of course, the stand would be superb for plants, bronze display or to show off your favorite French cache pot, and certainly serve as a wonderful accent piece with other Brittany antiques!
Well built by craftsmen of the period, circa1900.
