Ernstson was born in Hamburg, Germany and spent most of his life in the San Francisco Bay Area. He received his B.A. at San Francisco State and a masters in Fine Art at UC Berkeley, where ceramicist Peter Voulkos and Ron Nagle were mentors. He also associated with Larry Bell, Robert Irwin, Peter Alexander, DeWain Valentine, and James Turrell. Today Ernstson is best known for his minimalist sculpture, a number of which have appeared at auction in California. Condition is excellent. less
