A substantial and decorative carved gilt wood Swedish cartouche form clock in the traditional bold Gustavian manner combining Rococo elements with Neoclassical husk swags. The clock dates to the early 20th century, and has the famous Danish silversmith’s name hand painted along with Starnsund on the face, apparently a bespoke commission for the the fast growing business which had opened multiple branches around the world by 1935. Sold as a decorative piece- working condition unknown, chime and pendulum detached but present. Good overall condition, lovely bright gilded surface, with minor wear, some chipping to clock face and gilding, mainly along back edge, small restorations. No glass.
