A vintage 2x4 Persian Gabbeh rug, from the latest grand entry to Rug & Kilim’s curation of rare tribal pieces. Hand-knotted in wool circa 1950-1960.
On the Design:
This mid-century piece features red diamond medallions atop a rich brown background—motifs sometimes called lozenges in tribal vernacular. Keen eyes will note colorful accents and borders in with a lively touch to this classic, cultured piece. Such a modern employ of archaic design exemplifies works of this provenance—among the most primitive, collectible shabby-chic styles.
