This cutie belonged to my mom, who was an avid Blue Ridge Southern Potteries collector. It is believed that Blue Ridge Southern Potteries created between 4,000 and 5,000 different patterns, however, most of the records have been lost or destroyed over the years. Another quirky fact, the company did not name the patterns because they operated basically on a numbering system. Most patterns have been given names by collectors over the years, therefore, you might have a description in a reference guide that refers to a pattern by one name and then find the same design in another source listed with a different name. The makers mark on the bottom was used from the late 1930s to the early 1940s. Whimsically colorful, the medium is hand painted bisque china. Milk white in color with muted/dusty red roses and accents of the same hue on the rim and ribbed handle, green leaves, brown stems. It measures 6½” x 5¼” x 3¼”H/W/D; weight 15 oz.; origin Erwin, TN. In excellent condition but as with anything handcrafted, pottery marks, color variances, etc. are inherent from the kiln/manufacturer and add to its charm. For a collector of Blue Ridge pitchers, this could be a great add to that collection or the perfect gift for someone who is.
