Crafted in France circa 1870 and built of inlaid … more Decorate an entry or hallway with this elegant antique buffet console. Crafted in France circa 1870 and built of inlaid rosewood, the classic cabinet exemplifies the Louis XV style with a heavy presence, dramatic lines and beautiful gilt accents throughout. The cabinet stands on cabriole legs ending with decorative bronze-covered feet, over a scalloped apron decorated with swirling acanthus and straight-edge geometric motifs. The cabinet features one large single drawer across the front, with delicate bronze pulls and matching wreath-shaped escutcheon; the drawer is further embellished with intricate geometric parquetry motifs, and each corner is dressed with bronze mounts. The shaped surface is dressed with a variegated rust, gray, and white "Gris de Saint Anne" marble top. The console table with recessed side panels, is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a well-maintained rich walnut patina; it would make perfect table to display porcelain objects, frames, and more.
Gris Sainte Anne Marble is a dark grey marble with white and light grey markings. It is quarried mainly in Belgium at Gougnies, near Charleroi and at Biesme, Namur.
