The glass … more A beautiful Space Age one-light pendant lamp from the 1960s. Hand-blown Murano glass, white lacquered aluminum and chrome.
The glass shade, with its absolutely unique shape, diffuses a pleasant luminosity that highlights the exquisite 'Pulegoso' workmanship of the glass.
This particular type of glass, called 'pulegoso' in Murano glassworks, is characterised by countless tiny, irregular air bubbles (in Venetian = 'pulighe' ) that form inside the glass mass, deliberately limiting its transparency. This is achieved, with a technique that was widely used in the 1920s, by adding substances such as gasoline for example, in order to produce a boiling on the molten glass.
The frame is made of white lacquered aluminum with a round chrome-plated detail at the base. The lamp is fixed to the ceiling with a steel cable, which can be easily shortened on request.
